Capable of punkish rawness, simmering atmosphere, and light-hearted pop, Modest Mouse helped shape the sound of late-’90s indie rock and proved there’s more to the Pacific Northwest underground than grunge. Coupled with frontman Isaac Brock’s sketches of small-town life, their mix of emo, folk, post-rock, and prog have earned them multi-platinum status and a GRAMMY nomination.
